JUST IN: FG Declares Public Holidays for Easter Celebration

The Federal Government has announced Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.


Friday will be observed as Good Friday, while Monday is set aside for Easter Monday.


The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, OlubunmiTunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Wednesday.


In his message, the minister congratulated Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora, urging them to reflect on the true meaning of Easter. He encouraged Nigerians to embrace values such as love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and patience virtues deeply rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ.


Tunji-Ojo also called for unity and peaceful coexistence among citizens, noting that Easter serves as a reminder of the strength found in togetherness and tolerance.


He reassured Nigerians of the government’s continued commitment to policies that promote national growth, economic stability, and shared prosperity.


The minister concluded by wishing all Christians a peaceful, joyful, and fulfilling Easter celebration.
