Another Promise Kept: Ido–Eruwa Road Reconstruction Brings Relief to Ibarapa Residents

For many people in Ibarapa, the Ido–Eruwa Road used to be a daily struggle  one of those journeys you had to mentally prepare for before stepping out.

Bad portions, countless potholes, frequent breakdowns… it wasn’t just a road, it was a real challenge to everyday life. Farmers found it hard to move their produce, traders lost time and money, and commuters dealt with constant frustration.

But today, things are starting to look different.

The reconstruction of the 48km stretch is now in full swing, and you can literally feel the change. What used to be a source of complaints is gradually becoming a road people can rely on again.

Many residents remember when they had to take their frustrations online, calling on Governor Seyi Makinde to step in. Now, seeing the level of work being done, it feels like those voices truly mattered.

One resident put it simply:A

We complained, we begged… and now, seeing this progress, it feels unreal. This road is changing everything for us.

With a better road, movement becomes easier. Farmers can get their goods to the market faster, traders can do business with less stress, and people can access schools and hospitals without the usual struggle.

Another resident captured it Perfectly:

This road is not just a project to us, it’s our lifeline. And now, it finally feels like we’ve been heard

This is what the Omituntun 2.0 agenda is all about  not just promises, but real impact that people can see and feel in their daily lives.

For the people of Ibarapa, the Ido–Eruwa Road is more than construction work  it’s a sign that governance can listen, respond, and deliver.

And if this progress continues, many are hopeful that even more communities across Oyo State will experience the same kind of transformation.
