The Oyo State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in Ibadan, arresting three individuals linked to the possession and sale of suspected human parts.
The arrests were made during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Adekile area of Agugu. Officers intercepted a motorcycle and, upon searching one of the passengers, discovered a package containing what is believed to be human intestines. The suspect, identified as Oyategbe Joseph, was immediately taken into custody.
During interrogation, Joseph reportedly revealed that he sourced the items from the Oritaperin area before selling them to two other individuals, Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo. Acting swiftly on this information, police tracked down and arrested the alleged buyers.
Police spokesperson, Ayanladeh Olayinka, confirmed the development, stating that the operation aligns with the Command’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on criminal activities and protect public safety. He added that the Commissioner of Police has ordered a full investigation, with the case now transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
In a separate operation, the Command also dismantled a six-man robbery syndicate operating across Ibadan. Acting on credible intelligence, officers raided a hotel in the 7UP/Academy area, leading to the arrest of six suspects believed to be involved in robbing unsuspecting residents using tricycles.
Items recovered from the suspects include 18 mobile phones, an Opay ATM card, a National Identification Number card, and a tricycle allegedly used for their operations.
The police credited the success of both operations to timely information from the public and urged residents to remain vigilant. They reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring safety across Ibadan and called on citizens to continue supporting security agencies with useful intelligence.
