The Mission to Reset Nigeria Begins in Ibadan — Seyi Makinde

Seyi Makinde has declared that the journey to rebuild and reset Nigeria must start from the grassroots, identifying Ibadan as the symbolic and practical starting point for a new phase of accountable leadership and people-focused governance.

Speaking at the PDP/APM Mega Unity Rally held at Mapo Hall, the governor said Nigeria’s current challenges cannot be solved only from the top, stressing that real transformation must begin within states and local communities.

“The mission to reset Nigeria begins in Ibadan,” Makinde told supporters, party leaders, and residents gathered at the historic venue. “If we can get it right in Oyo State by strengthening institutions, empowering citizens, and sustaining good governance, then we are laying the foundation for a better Nigeria.”

The rally, organized to strengthen support for the PDP/APM alliance, attracted political stakeholders and supporters from Ibadan South West Constituency 1 and other parts of the state.

Makinde noted that rebuilding Nigeria goes beyond political slogans, emphasizing that practical governance in areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment remains the true path to national development. He pointed to several ongoing projects and reforms in Oyo State as evidence that focused leadership at the state level can deliver meaningful results for the people.

The governor also urged citizens to remain actively involved in governance and continue holding elected leaders accountable.

“Leadership is a trust,” he said. “When the people demand better governance, leaders are compelled to deliver better results.”

Party leaders at the rally described the gathering as a strong display of unity, grassroots mobilization, and political solidarity ahead of future political activities in the state.

The event ended with renewed calls for cooperation across political divides in support of policies aimed at development, social welfare, and inclusive governance.

Since the rally, Makinde’s “Reset Nigeria” message has continued to gain attention across Oyo State, with supporters describing it as a broader call to rebuild the nation through responsive leadership, beginning from the grassroots level in Ibadan.
