WORKERS DAY: Prof. Dahud Shangodoyin Celebrates Workers, Reaffirms Commitment to Labour Welfare

As workers across Nigeria mark the 2026 Workers’ Day, the Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources in Oyo State, Prof. Dahud Kehinde Shangodoyin, has extended warm greetings and heartfelt appreciation to the workforce for their resilience, dedication, and immense contributions to nation building.


In a statement released to commemorate the annual celebration, Prof. Shangodoyin described workers as the backbone of societal growth and development, noting that their daily sacrifices continue to sustain the economy, strengthen institutions, and drive progress across Oyo State and the country at large.


He commended the efforts of civil servants, teachers, artisans, healthcare professionals, engineers, security personnel, entrepreneurs, and members of the organized private sector, emphasizing that their commitment remains vital to the advancement of key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, transportation, and energy.


Highlighting the importance of energy in economic development, Shangodoyin stated that reliable power supply plays a crucial role in industrial growth, job creation, and improved living standards. He added that his office remains committed to expanding energy access, supporting independent power initiatives, promoting renewable energy solutions, and strengthening the electricity ecosystem in Oyo State.


The Commissioner also acknowledged the challenges faced by workers, particularly in the face of rising economic pressures and workplace demands. He stressed the need for stronger collaboration between government, private sector stakeholders, and other partners to ensure that workers are fairly rewarded, adequately protected, and provided with opportunities for growth.


Reaffirming his commitment to labour friendly policies, Prof. Shangodoyin pledged continued advocacy for improved working conditions, youth empowerment, skills development, inclusive economic growth, and respect for the dignity of labour.

“Together, we can build an Oyo State where hard work is valued, excellence is rewarded, and every citizen is empowered to contribute meaningfully to the growth and prosperity of our dear State,” he said.


He concluded by appreciating all workers for their patriotism and service, praying that their labour will never be in vain.


Prof. Dahud Kehinde Shangodoyin is also a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Oyo State.
