Dhanurmasam Begins

As per the TTD Panchangam, Dhanurmasam begins by 3.24 AM on December 16 th and ends on January 14 th , 2008. In view of Dhanurmasam , In place of Suprabhatham, Thiruppavai will be recited in the temple of Lord Sri Venkateswara, Tirumala. The Veda Parayanadars will recite Vishnu Shahasranamam in the early mornings around four mada streets during these days. Special programmes such as cultural programmes, religious discourses will be arranged at Asthanamandapam, Tirumala during Dhanurmasam by Dharma Prachara Parishad, TTDs.

Padmavathi Ammavari Kartheeka Brahmotsavam Concludes with Panchami Theertham

The nine-day Brahmotsavam of goddess Padmavathi came to a grand close with `Chakra Snanam' performed at the Tiruchanur temple tank here on Tuesday. The deity of Padmavathi was given a celestial bath on the banks of the tank `Padma Sarovaram', with water mixed with turmeric, sandal and other aromatic products. According to mythology, the goddess was born in a lotus flower in this very tank on `Kartheeka Panchami' day as per the almanac and hence the festival is called locally `Panchami Theertham'. Earlier, priests carried `Saarey' (a collection of a silk saree, turmeric, kumkum, bangles etc.) on elephant-back all the way from Tirumala temple to Tiruchanur. It is considered a birthday gift from Lord Venkateswara to His consort. Later, the deity of `Sudarsana Chakra' (sacred discus) was taken in a procession and given a holy dip in the Pushkarini amid chanting of hymns and to the beat of traditional percussion instruments.

Padmavathi Ammavari Kartheeka Brahmotsavam- Rathotsavam

Thousands of devotees participated in the `Rathothsavam' as part of the annual Kartheeka Brahmotsavams at the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanur on Monday. They enthusiastically dragged the flower-decked wooden chariot, with the presiding deity, Goddess Padmavathi, seated in it, through the four Mada streets around the Pushkarini (temple tank). Earlier, at 5.30 a.m. the priests performed the sacrificial rituals to the chariot and brought out the deity in a procession to the `Ratha Mandapam,' the starting point of the chariot-ride. `Ratharohanam,' the process of seating the deity on the chariot was performed in the auspicious hours of `Tula Lagnam.' At 7.15 a.m., the officials signalled to the devotees to start pulling the huge rope connected to the chariot, and the gigantic vehicle slowly started rolling down the streets. `Dwajarohanam' was performed on Monday Nov 24,2008 in the famous temple of Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, signalling the commencement of the nine-day annual `Brahmotsavam' of Goddess Padmavathi. The sacred yellow cloth flag with the imprint of Gaja , the celestial carrier of Goddess Padmavathi, was hoisted atop the golden flag post, `Dwajasthambham,' situated inside the temple complex at the auspicious `Vrushika lagnam' between 9.05am to 9.20 am. amidst the traditional recitation of Vedic hymns by temple priests. Sri D.K.Audikesavulu, Chairman TTDs on Tuesday evening has released the Wall posters, Programme book lets of Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Kartheeka Brahmotsavams at the temple in Tiruchanur. Speaking with media the chairman said that the TTD has made a golden chariot for Goddess Padmavathi will be taken out in procession around four mada streets. The cost of the Chariot is 3 crores, 23 kgs gold and 1050 copper is used for this chariot. For the first time this golden chariot is going to use in the Brahmotsavams. The Chairman offered pujas to the Aswa Vahanam of Goddess Padmavathi Ammavaru in the temple donated by Sri M.Venkataramana, MLA. The cost of the Vahanam is Rs. 20.5 lakhs. 2kgs of Gold is used for the Vahanam. Later the Chairman explained the media about the facilities to be provided to the pilgrims during Brahmotsavams. The Ongoing works for Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Brahmotsavams at Tiruchanoor have to be completed within a couple of days told Sri K.V.Ramanachary, Executive Officer, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams on Saturday. He inspected the works at Tiruchanoor along with the Officials. He asked the Chief Engineer to arrange parking places at the entrance of Tiruchanoor and at Pudi Road for the convenience of devotees. The Education wing of TTD has organized padyadhara Competitions (Recitation of Poems) to the students of 1st to 7 th class studying in various schools in Tirupati. The prize distribution programme is arranged in mahathi on November 14. While addressing huge gathering of students, Sri Ramanachary said that the parents have to encourage the children to pay more attention on the mother tongue and its importance. He also announced that next year this competition will be conducted in state level. Sri Vari Annual Pushpa Yagam

The annual Pushpa Yaga Mahotsavam performed in the temple of Lord Sri Venkateswara on Nov 6. Snapana Tirumanjanam by 9am to 11am, Pushpa Yagam by 1pm to 5pm conducted in the Sampangi Prakaram. In the evening by 6.30pm after the completion of Sahasra Deepalankara Seva, the lord Malayappa Swamy along with His consorts taken out in to procession around four mada streets. In view of this Pushpa Yaga Mahotsavam on Nov 6, arjitha sevas such as Thomala, Archana, Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Brahmotsavam, and Vasanthotsavam besides Nijapada Sevas are cancelled. After conducting 'Kalyanamastu', the mass marriage programme across the State thrice successfully, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) management conducted the fourth phase of mass marriages programme across Andhra Pradesh on the auspicious sumurtham between 10.55 hours and 11.10 hours in the Dhanur Langnam today. As caparisoned temple elephants saluted and thousands of devotees sat outside the temple watching the event occurring inside on plasma televisions. The Srivari Brahmotsavam-2008 began at the sumuhurtam of Meena lagnam with the ‘dwajarohanam’ after 6.45 in the evening. The Tirumala township dazzled with the illuminations of Lord Venkateswara , his consorts and other Hindu deities as thousands waited with bated breath for the commence of the annual event. Earlier in the evening the Malayalappa swamy was taken in a procession preceded by the Brahma ratham and other commanders of the army of Lord Vishnu -Viswaksena, Anagada and Hanumantha by the temple palanquin carriers. The chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy landed in the evening to participate in the Brahmotsavam. He walked the distance of over 150 meters from Anjaneyaswamy temple up to the temple carrying the official offerings of silk by government of AP to the deity on the occasion of the Brahmotsavam.
