Black marketing of tickets under check in Tirumala

TIRUMALA: The black marketing of darshan tickets and cottages has taken a dip due to the joint drive taken up by the TTD Security and Vigilance Department and the district police in weeding out the ‘Dalali’ (middlemen) system. This step has left its mark at the temple of Lord Venkateswara with most of the brokers going into ‘hibernation’.

The impact of the joint operation can be felt with the fact that all the cottage allotment counters are now easily accessible to visiting devotees and they are able to get the cottages and guesthouses of their choice with much ease.

Drastic change

Most importantly, there is drastic change in the availability of darshan tickets. With the personnel of the departments pursuing the black marketing issue rather doggedly the middlemen who earlier were seen hovering in the vicinity of the Vaikuntam queue complex around the clock selling tickets are no longer being seen.

This is thanks to the efforts of the SP, Lakshmireddy, who issued strict instructions to the local police to intensively check all the two-wheelers and disallow people from thronging the sacred town.

Meanwhile, the tough stand taken by the Tirumala-based TTD Special officer, A.V.Dharma Reddy, also had a cascading impact regarding the issuance of darshan tickets on the VIP recommendation letters.
