Laying a trap for Rajesh, working as a mason in the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati, and his three accomplices, the Vigilance guards pretended to be devotees in dire need of darshan. The four were rounded up immediately after they accepted money for arranging darshan.

Clerk’s name revealed

The middlemen also revealed the name of a clerk working in the office of the Special Officer (Tirumala), who had assured to help them in arranging the seva tickets. In yet another incident, a ten-member party from Malaysia lodged a complaint to the Vigilance officials to have paid Rs. 5,000 for darshan to a travel operator in Chennai, who in turn had directed them to meet an employee working in the TTD’s Forest Department at Tirumala and pay Rs. 5,000 more.

The devotees realised that they had been fleeced only when the employee failed to turn up with tickets.
