Agilent launches gas chromatograph

HYDERABAD: Agilent Technologies, provider of electronic measurement and bio-analytical solutions, on Tuesday announced the launch of Agilent 7820A gas chromatograph system.

Targets SMEs

At the pan-India launch here, Country Operations Manager Sanjeev Dhar said the company was targeting the small and medium enterprise (SME) segment in India, China and Japan. Priced between Rs. 7.25 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh, the gas chromatograph is used in testing volatile and semi-volatile substances including food, pharmaceuticals and speciality chemicals, pesticide and insecticides, in university and forensic laboratories. About the volumes of the market and the company’s target, he said Agilent hoped to sell about 1,500 units annually, about 35 per cent of the market share. As for the company’s revenues, he said the Asia Pacific market contributed about 36 per cent of total revenues of $5.8 billion in 2008.

To open new facilities

The company would soon have facilities in Goa and Pune, in addition to the seven facilities in metros, Mr. Dhar said, adding that while a green field campus at Manesar was nearing completion, the Centre of Excellence and Application Lab in Bangalore was now completely operational.
