‘Flu’ patient in chest hospital

HYDERABAD: Passengers arriving here from various countries continue to get admitted to Government General and Chest Hospital, Erragadda, with suspected symptoms of influenza A (H1N1) flu virus. On Saturday night, a 29-year-old traveller working in a pharmaceutical company in Hyderabad volunteered to get admitted to the hospital.

The patient landed in Hyderabad on May 6 from Chicago, United States, with no flu symptoms.

He also had spent a week in Boston.

After reaching here the 29-year-old developed flu-like symptoms including cough, sore throat and cold and was asked by a local doctor to get admitted to the Government Chest hospital.

“The swab samples of serum and secretions have been sent to NICD for testing. Reports are likely to arrive on Monday evening,” K Subhakar of the chest hospital said.
