Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The death of a second year Intermediate student on the hostel premises triggered protests at a private college in Aushapur near Ghatkesar on Sunday afternoon. Students squatted in front of the college and raised slogans against the management holding it responsible for the death of Ch. Santosh Kumar (17). Police, however, intervened and brought the situation under control.

Kumar, hailing from Karimnagar district, was pursuing MPC course at a private college in Dilsukhnagar. However, he was depressed for the last few months after he was shifted to Aushapur branch along with 200 students. Since then he was unable to focus on studies. After attending classes in the afternoon on Sunday, he went to the bathroom and hanged himself, said Ghatkesar Sub-Inspector V. Anantaiah.
